2015 April Meeting Update
Had a phenomenal turnout at our new meeting location!
SolidWorks World 2015 Recap
There was a lot of great stuff to talk about but we focused this presentation on the nifty new gadgets.
One in particular was the Myo Armband by Thalmic Labs. Got some great interest. Hopefully we’ll be able to show one at a future meeting.
We also spent a bunch of time talking about the future of SolidWorks and presented info on SolidWorks Conceptual Designer, SolidWorks Industrial Designer & Platform Contributor–built on the 3DExperience platform.
While not a DIRECT REPLACEMENT for SolidWorks (Legacy) desktop software. I think many users are seeing the writing on the wall. With strong competition from Autodesk Fusion 360, PTC Creo in the Cloud & Onshape, a cloud-based SolidWorks solution is on the horizon…
Studio Fathom
We also had a presentation on 3D printing from Studio Fathom. Lots of interest in DMLS and carbon fiber technologies.
zSpace
zSpace showed off their 3D visualization technology. Lots of people got to try it out and gave some great feedback!
Prizes, Prizes & more Prizes
Had a lot of prizes to give away this meeting. Had enough that almost every attendee received one. Pens, T-Shirts, backpacks…You name it. We gave it away. Thanks to all our prize sponsors!
Food!
Once again we wanted to give a ton of thanks to our food sponsor SoloPoint Solutions. While pizza is good, the Italian food they provided was enjoyed by all!
Next Meeting
We’re shooting for June. Just have to line up a few presenters. If your interested, please let us know. Let’s shoot for 100+ attendees and make the Silicon Valley SolidWorks User Group the best in the country…
Newsletter
We’re trying to cull the list. During this next month we’ll be sending out an UPDATE YOUR PROFILE email to make sure everyone who’s on the list wants to be. Anyone who doesn’t opt-in to the list will get removed in the next few mailings. Be sure to check for the email. Please forward the invite URL to as many people within your organization. The more the merrier!
